Abe Sweezey

Abraham "Abe" Sweezey (He/Him) moved back to the Fox Valley after growing up in the area. He manages a small team focused on Knowledge Management and Training within the organization's client support group for a Credit Union Service Organization. He has been with the organization for over 20 years, championing the credit union principles and philosophy of "people helping people." Abe believes that facilitating sessions well means creating an environment where people feel safe, and he hopes to bring that same mindset to the board.

Abe and his husband previously resided in Phoenix, AZ, where they worked with a number of community organizations, including the Arizona Border Collie Rescue and HERO (Human Equal Rights Organizers), an activist group that fought for marriage equality and other LGBTQ+ issues affecting the community.

Abe came out at a young age, navigated the homophobia of the late-1990s high school experience, and has pushed for acceptance ever since. Abe identifies as gay.
